It does boot at this point, but it has no /dev/console and hangs there. Is there a way to start that "makeing devices" from the 1.5.2 boot cd?

And now when trying with the X installation software, it gets to the making
devices and spews this..

After some monkeying around, I'm suspecting the scsi controller on the MB as
having a problem. I had a Seagate ST12400N disk, and swapped to the other
scsi interface in the system. This brought about a reboot here...

I switched to a Different ST12400N, but still had a problem. Now it gets
past the boot, but panics at making the device files.

Any ideas? Do you think it's a hardware problem?
