I don't know the 501-2015 by number, and I'm away from my collection of
SBus cards.  But multi-medium Ethernets sometimes have hardware
settings that control which medium they use - typically a bank of 8
jumpers that have to be all on one side or all on the other.

Of course, if the 501-2015 has a UTP jack and nothing else for Ethernet
on it (ie, isn't multi-medium), this doesn't apply.  I _have_ seen
SCSI/Ethernet cards that have dongles, with different dongles for
different media, though, so it could be one of them.

It also could just be broken. :-(
