If one of you guys knows where i can find a weitek powerup chip still i
would be greatful. It appears the sparc i have has had its processor with
the onboard FPU replaced with a processor from a SS2, which does not have an
onboard FPU, and is messing up my attempts to put netbsd and other OS's on
it.

You can upgrade the SS2 and the IPX to a Weitek PowerUp chip which runs
at 80Mhz. There does seem to be some talk in the mailling list archives
back in 1996 about problems with NetBSD after this upgrade. I'm not sure
   if this was ever "fixed".

problems? i have run several powerup's in SS2's and an IPX over the
years without incident...
