I have heard that Quantum are good at bad SCSI implementations.
I do not know how much truth there is in this statement, but...

Just last night I had a problem with a Fireball TM that would
not work in a Sparc-10 [sun4m, onboard fast SCSI] (data fault
shortl after device probing discovered the cg6), but works
like a charm in a Sparc-2 [sun4c, onboard slow SCSI].
