hi,

i recently installed netbsd/sparc on an old sparcstation 1+ clone.

when i login to the box via ssh over the network, i can use "csh" or "sh" to
work interactively and use vi without problems, no matter what the term
variable is.

but when i fire up "minicom" from a linux box connected via a standard
nullmodem cable to the ttya port (which is console since the keyboard is
unplugged) of the box (using 96008N1, 96007E1 is not working), i can log in, press
enter, type "cat foo" and "top" and everything is working fine but vi doesn't
work. i open a file with "vi" and the lines start to scroll down (without me
pressing cursor keys), then "vi" stops somewhere in the middle and i only can
scroll down but not scroll up any more. it does not hurt that much because
if i use ssh to login and tune some ipf rules and lock myself out, i just
login via serial to "console" and type "/etc/rc.d/ipfilter stop" and can login
via ssh again... but that is not a nice solution in the long run...

help would really be appreciated.

bye, pappy
