Has anyone had trouble installing NetBSD 1.5.2 on a Sun SS5, preferrably in a
machine that had no trouble at all with 1.5.1?

I installed NetBSD from 1.4.x onward, and it was always perfect.

But 1.5.2 is a problem. I had to create two floppies before finding
one it would boot from.

Putting 1.5.1's boot image on the floppy that seemed "bad" works fine. It's
only when 1.5.2 is on it that it won't work.

Using the floppy that works to boot, after inserting the second floppy with
the utilities, the machine just ejects the utility floppy and then sits there
doing nothing.

Since the machine has a tape drive, I created boot images and installation
sets on 4mm tape. Same problem. It boots just fine and then hangs after
that.

Again, 1.5.1 is fine.

Nothing in the installation notes suggest a change in boot procedure so right
now I can't think of any reason for this. The list of changes for 1.5.2
looked like nothing more than upgrades and bug fixes that should not affect my
ability to boot.

Still, I have a Sun SS5 that refuses to boot and install 1.5.2.

If anyone has ideas about what is wrong or something to try, I'm open.
This is not a must-have upgrade, but I would like to get some of the
security fixes in there.

There's nothing special about my machine: 256MB RAM, 110MHz CPU, a couple of
IBM hard drives, and an external case with 2 Seagates and a Python tape drive.
I can't remember which boot PROM it has, but I think it is 2.1.something.
