Screen-blanking is different than toggling the backlight,
and it is the backlight that wears out very rapidly on the
Voyager TFT.  When you attempt the commands below, carefully
check the backlight to see if it is extinguished-- I don't =

see how that could be the case unless the Voyager shipped with
a modified framebuffer driver.
