Thanks for the replies... but still no go..

yes - sorry i do have my ethers file set up with the correct mac address...

now whereever i have a reference to the hostname of joob, should i have that
set to its full DNS
name ie joob.springy-ninja.com ????

and i changed the client field in the bootparams file, but still no luck..
any ideas??
