This is not a requirement for NetBSD/sparc to run correctly.

Setting this variable to `true' will cause PROM verbosity as it resets,
tests and probes the machine's hardware. As a further side-effect it
may use a different boot device and/or boot file name. You can find out
about this by using the `printenv' PROM command; you can alter those
settings by using the `setenv' PROM command.
