Why in hell do you plan to spend more $ than necessary into a 10 year
old machine? My SS10 clone uses openprom 1.2, and it can be configured
to boot netbsd just fine. So why change it?
IMHO the only reason to upgrade openboot is (for me) i can do some
things i need to be able to do but can't with the present version of
openboot, e.g., running a 64 bit solaris kernel on an old Ultra1
(which requires openboot >= 3.5).
BTW: this old version of openboot allows me to select the boot
partition of any device, while the openboot version of my (Tatung) ss2
clone (2.4) does not.
So - never change a running system.
Michael
P.S. like some others here in the group i have also been successful in
attaching a new battery to a dead NVRAM (and unsuccessful bying the
chip here in germany). So i can only advertise for this, too.
