Greetings, more dds woes...

Checked the hp website for data on this obsolete beast (dds-1, but does
2-4GB, depending on the data).  Set the switches accordingly (can't seem
to find out what they do, precisely).  No go.  Can't tell if the medium
is bad or what (the tapes ARE 5 years old).

...do I need to disable disconnects/sync negotiation on this drive?
