On a lark, I once took a drive from a sun4c SS1 box that had OpenBSD
installed, and dropped it into my 4/110 crate.  It booted and ran
fine, even though I could not get anything installed natively.
You might try installing that way, and then transferring the drive
over to the sun4 boxes.
