I tried the undef'd code for 24bpp (cg8 emulation) in 
sparc/dev/cgfourteen.c and it failed. I've filed PR port-sparc/10170 
that describes the experience, in hopes that someone else here has 
the requisite experience working on graphics drivers needed to make 
this actually work. I've got the hardware and can test kernels pretty 
much all day long...
