Hi folks,
Having a bit of trouble installing NetBSD onto a Sparc IPX.
I've been reading the mailing list a bit, and I've downloaded the
latest boot-142.fs.gz and syboot-142.fs.gz files and dd'd them from a
linux(i386) box with dd if=boot-142.fs of=/dev/fd0 bs=20 (should I have
left them gzip'd?) with not much success.

ok boot floppy
Boot device: /fd File and args:
Can't read disk label.
Can't open Sun disk label package
Can't open boot device

It's got 28mb of ram, 1 x 16mb, 3x 4mb, and a Rom revision of 2.9

For entertainments sake I've also tried netbooting it from this linux
box..

It looks strangely like the IPX is refusing to accept the file, after
making the request.

The first attempt is a correct boot attempt by the IPX, the subsequent
to are me messing about with the dload command in OpenBOOT.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Bear in mind, this is my only Sparc, and it currently doesn't have a
usuable OS installed on it (things tend to break if you don't upgrade
the correct files in the correct order). I have NetBSD 68k on a Quadra
700 if thats of any help, but any compiling or running of mksunisoboot
or whatever is going to be a tad on the difficult side.

I do have an IDE CD burner in the Linux box.

I have a SCSI CD burner not currently plugged into anything.

You can go <n/s/e/w/u/d> from here.
Nevermind.

Matt.
