Interesting. I've just installed this in one of my SS20s:

st0 at scsibus0 targ 6 lun 0: <HP, HP35480A, T503> SCSI2 1/sequential removable

(a half-height DDS1 drive) and it works well for me. I picked it
up for $99 from www.computersurplusoutlet.com.
