IMPORTANT!! If you install this onto a machine running 1.4M, 1.4P, or
1.4<letter>, it is probably going to downgrade your machine.
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/sparc/snapshot/1.4.2/
(Note to those who have been running dated snapshots: 1.4.2 is a formal
release of NetBSD and comes from a parallel version of the sources. In
many ways it is "older" than any dated snapshot from the last year or so.
The formal releases deliberately use separate source versions so that we
can filter every change that goes into them. Generally only bug fixes and
safe features, like well-tested new drivers, are allowed in.)
I need help testing this. I'm doing eight (yes, 8!) arches for 1.4.2 and
do not have enough time (nor hardware variety) to test everything. I have
verified that the boot floppies finally work using the new boot blocks,
but things were delayed by a vnd phenomenon on my IPX which may or may not
be a general issue.
Please, everyone who can try these out, do so and send me private email
(toddpw@best.com) with your success stories so I can make sure everything
works for at least one person before it goes up in the main 1.4.2 directory.
I'll send out another email when I have everything checked off.
