I have sun4c (IPC) box running the 19991223 snapshot, and am
having difficulty getting dump to work on certain partitions.

There are two 4 Gbyte drives on the SCSI chain, where one
has a 2 Gbyte partition (/usr) among miscellaneous other
partitions (which all dump'd successfully), and where the
other has a 3.5 Gbyte scratch partition (/var/tmp).
The scratch partition currently has softdeps enabled.

Dumping the smaller partions to tape (DAT) or file(s) on
/var/tmp has been successful (with the exception of the other
partition on the same drive as /var/tmp - dumping that to
file on /var/tmp yields the same results as dumping /usr).

Dumping /usr to tape or file results in it silently pausing
(forever) at some random interval in the dump (between 5%
and 80%). Dumping to /dev/null has been successful. I can
abort the paused dumps, but there doesn't appear to be any
way to unpause them. Running single-user, syncing the disks
before running the dump, and marking the partition ro all
appear to make no difference.

Is there something I've overlooked in getting this to work?
