There's a PR (pkg/7844) open on it covering OpenSSL-0.9.2b built on 1.4.
I'll give it a shot with 0.9.4 on 1.4P.  Which version(s) are you trying?

Hardware for the PR was sun4c (IPC).  This weeks try will be using similar
hardware.
