Just had a nasty experience with 'halt -p' under 1.4.1
- On a sparc2 etc it just returns to the prom.
- On a sparc5 is neatly powers off the machine.
- On a sparc10 it powers down the PSU (with the switch still in
the on position), never to power up again.
If you put the sparc5 PSU in the sparc10 (given the sparc10 PSU
is defunct), it correctly powers off, and will restart (you can't
actually power any disks since sun changed part of the power
connection, but that is not germane).
It looks like the ss10 motherboard supports soft power off, but
the PSU does not.
I've just killed two power supplies doing this, and I trying to
pull it apart to work out what died (the fuse is fine, I suspect
a relay).
Has anyone else experienced this?
