I think the best thing to do is make the external clock support code from
mac68k/macppc part of the MI driver. Then you tell the driver, "I've got
clock XXX on the receive clock pin." Then the driver would just do the
right thing.

1x off of the BRG just doesn't seem safe. It's got definite problems, and
since the machines don't seem to like running at high speeds available
with the current code, I don't see what it'd gain other than potential
problems. :-)
