Well, I'd love to test it, but I downloaded the latest sys.tar.gz 
     source tarball and it doesn't compile on sparc. *Sigh*.
     
     I very much doubt this was a hardware failure, since I tested one 
     drive on one SS20, and that drive and another (with a different cable) 
     on a different SS20.
