The be (10/100 Mbit) and the qe (quad 10Mbit) both use the same
engine (qec).  The hme is a newer card, I believe, with higher
performance (the be running at 100Mbit, half-duplex, on a sparc 2
barely exceeded 10Mbit speeds for me).
