and if your battery is dead then you may need to buy
a new NVRAM chip (about $15 or $20 i believe)

this is what i had to do for my ss1+

i would consult www.sunhelp.com and look around for the
NVRAM faq/howto

replacing the nvram chip is an easy thing, about 10 mins
