I thought the whole point of the BSD copyright (vice the GNU copyleft) is
that it allows that kind of stuff.  So I presume not for 1 and 3.

The whole point of the first email is that they *did* give credit, so
definitely yes for 2 as well.

Signature failed Preliminary Design Review.
Feasibility of a new signature is currently being evaluated.
