I've got a SS1, trying to install NetBSD 1.2 on (snapshot).
I've got the miniroot working great. After configuring
the network,

ping mymachine

I get one packet, then

ping: unable to clear cached route: Network unreachable

whats up?

I have a legal gateway in route, and sunmon-compat is false :)
