Hi Jim:

Thanks for the info. Matthew Green has replied that "kbd" is the only
pseudo-device needed for the generic kernel. This is the one that I
am running. 

I don't have SunOS and won't be able to boot it, but will try
swapping the kbd and/or mouse to see if there could be a hardware
problem lurking.
