For people who send any amount of bitmap material to their printers,
connecting a printer serially is just begging for long stretches of
intense boredom. Parallel interfaces are fast. RS232 interfaces are,
well, not so fast. For those who don't feel like going out and
blowing bucks on a fancy new connect-directly-to-the-ethernet printer,
having a $50.00 Sun 3/80 sitting underneath the LaserJet acting as a
print server talking parallel to the printer is a damn fine idea.
