Yes, I see the exact same result on my IPX with the fast-console hack
   (thanks to whoever posted that!  I've made friends with that routine!).
   If anyone has a solution to this problem, please let me know as well.
   
   It seems to be triggered by the exit-curses-mode stuff that vi sends.

i saw this while booting a generic kernel recently.  we
should fix it.  :-)
