Subject: XServer and xdm woes.

I have gotten xdm to work on port-sparc (on my 4/260) by
copying some files from another machine. However, there is a little
glitch left that is puzzling me. In the XSetup_0 file, I can have
xconsole run. Fine. However, xscreensaver refuses to run with a
message of 'not authorized to talk to server' ... So I did some poking
around and found the following:

[4:3:303]root@repeat:/u/dgilbert> xauth -f .Xauthority list
repeat.pci.on.ca:0 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 9fecb54abbd8321697846da233f069ee
repeat/unix:0 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 9fecb54abbd821697846da233f069ee
[4:4:304]root@repeat:/u/dgilbert> xauth -f /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/A:0-000146 list
#ffff##: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 9fecb54abbd8321697846da233f069ee

Now... the cookie is correct, but the display name isn't. Can
I a) fix that display name, or b) get applications to recognise it?

It would also be cool if the xdm login dropped an entry in the
utmp file, but that's just icing on the cake.

Dave.
