   Read the man page. The driver is supposed to select the right media
   at boot time. On the other hand, I don't think that it is right to
   dynamically change media just because link was lost in the middle
   of the day. Even SunOS and Solaris don't do that.

Try it on your SS20, they do on that machine, and I know many people
who pull out the tpe and plug in the aui and are glad the driver knows
what is going on.
