Subject: Problems with QIC150 tape drive

CPU:
   SPARCstation 1

Disk:
   HP C2490A hard drive (SCSI ID 1) on built-in esp0

Tape:
   Sun tape drive (Archive Viper 150) (SCSI ID 4) on Sbus esp1

Software:
   NetBSD-1.1
   X11R6

Symptoms:

   With tape in tape drive:
      msrsd3:{steveng}(113) mt -f /dev/rst0 status
      7: unknown tape drive type

   CONSOLE OUTPUT:
      st0(esp1:4:0): illegal request, data = 00 00 00 00 00 00
      st0: cannot set selected mode

   With no tape in tape drive:
      msrsd3:{steveng}(117) mt -f /dev/rst0 status
      mt: /dev/rst0: Input/output error

   CONSOLE OUTPUT:
      debug info
      sc_link->scsibus          = 1
      sc_link->target           = 4
      sc_link->lun              = 0
      sc_link->adapter_target   = 7
      sc_link->openings         = 0
      sc_link->active           = 0
      sc_link->flags            = 3
      #define SDEV_REMOVABLE    = 1
      #define SDEV_MEDIA_LOADED = 2
      sc_link->quirks           = 0
      st0(esp1:4:0): not ready, data = 00 00 00 00 00 00

  Note that the console output lines that start "debug info",
"sc_link", and "#define" are from debug code I tossed in to
st.c to try and get an idea of what is happening.

  Is anyone else having problems with a similar "standard"
setup like this? Is anyone looking into this? Do I need to
get the latest, bleeding-edge sources? Thanks for any and
all help.
