Missed the original post, so I'll reply to this one :-)
It's entirely possible that:
a) you're running si patches with a broken ncr5380.c. There
was a fix from David Jones that was put into ncr5380.c
a while ago.
b) your SCSI disk is broken in that it doesn't grok LUNs correctly
and needs to be added to the quirk table.
What sort of disk is it again?
