ddb doesn't turn it back on!

this morning my elc had mostly hung... lower levels of the kernel
were still working (ping worked, ip forwarding worked..) but nothing
else wanted to speak to me..

so i hit l1-a and got nothing. the ping i had running stopped, so
i typed `c' and it caught up again.. so i hit l1-a again, and then
machine prom and boot..

after though said i should have tried some other commands to see if
i could see them after the boot did something (ie, i saw the stuff
i had previously typed after the reboot begun), but such is life.

point:

ddb needs to know when the screen has blanked and to turn it back on,
else it's fairly useless..

i don't know anything about how this part of the system works, else
i'd go have a look myself..
