If anyone is interested, I have a script (derived from NetBSD's
MAKEDEV) which I used under SunOS to create a usable /dev directory
after unpacking the snapshot tars.  (Not the most recent sparc
snapshot; the one before that, which had nothing but MAKEDEV in the dev
tarball - I haven't looked at the most recent one, preferring to
recompile from source on my own.)
