If you have your network setup correctly, you also will be able to 
do ssh login to it, so you are not limited only to one command-line.

My co-worker (Debian person) gave me once a link to "Debian on SGI 
O2" [1], but as he told me it is not working on the R10k. Did not 
play with it yet.

If you want to try out an other BSD, have a look at OpenBSD/sgi 
[2]. I don't know anything about it.
