 - crashed after extracting base.tgz multiple times

RC2
 - seems stable - survived 10 passes of `tar xzf base.tgz`
 - i'm installing it again to test it further.

RC3
 - would not install.  rebooted while extracting base.tgz

RC4
 - untested at this time

RC5
 - would not install.  rebooted while extracting base.tgz
 - the kernel installed to an RC1 userland crashed.

-current
 - kernel installed to RC2 userland survived 85 passes of
   `tar xzf base.tgz`
 - cannot build base system.
