Are you running your serial console higher than 9600 baud??  Several
people have reported similar problems when there is local disk activity
and the Z8530 is outputting at high (>= 19200) speeds.

I have been attempting to duplicate the error locally, without success.
Those who have been able to get the error have found the problem
difficult to nail down.

If this is also the case for you can you see if a lower serial speeds (or
using telent/ssh) helps?
