Re: DSM-G600 block issue

Hi,

wd0 at atabus0 drive 0
wd0: <WDC AC28400R>
wd0: 8063 MB, 16383 cyl, 16 head, 63 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 16514064 sectors
boot device: wd0
root on wd0a dumps on wd0b
root file system type: msdos

Then I always block here, no success boot my dsmg600.

It seems the kernel misunderstands the disk has FAT filesyste
inside, with unknown reason. It's likely the 8GB drive is a
Windows98 recycle. Please wipe out the first 1MB of the
drive to make sure a fresh filesys to be made.

1. run the installer again
2. choose "e: Utlility menu" and then "a: Run /bin/sh"
3. "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rwd0c bs=1m count=1"
4. quit the shell by typing "exit"
5. "x: Back to main menu"

Then follow the "a: Install NetBSD to the disk" step as usual.

The DLink NAS can handle UATA133 transfer speed. Faster
drives easily outperform older ones.
