Yes, it is, which means it won't run any OS other than AIX.

It sounds like it's doing something. The numbers actually are
meaningful, and IBM has documentation for what they mean on their
website. I don't remember exactly where, but check under "pSeries"
hardware documentation.

No/Yes. There's no usable console until after the OS is booted.

No, IBM uses a different pinout for SYNC signals than Sun does. You can
use google to find them.
A better place for non-netbsd question on this machine is
rescue@sunhelp.org or comp.os.aix.
