Forgot: You have to build your own kernel anyway to get autoboot working.
If you don't, you will have to enter the root filesystem device manualy
at every boot.

I sugest to install on the SCSI disk and once the system is up and runing
to compile a custom kernel with IDE support and clone the installation to 
the IDE disk.
