egcs 1.0.3 does not work on NetBSD/powerpc, period. egcs 1.0.3 is pretty
broken in code generation on anything other than i386 and sparc, basically,
and its C++ is very broken. Patching it to build for NetBSD really isn't
worth the effort, IMHO - patching the egcs snapshots would be more
worthwhile.

Actually, yes. Also, egcs will become "the" NetBSD compiler in the near
future, so I'm sure there was intent to see if the egcs compiler will work
once it is in-tree. My suggestion to the original poster is to try
"powerpc-unknown-elf" on the egcs 1.1 snapshots. I'll be attempting to
import the egcs 1.1 snapshots into NetBSD-current within the next week,
possibly this weekend.
