use gpg, the Gnu Privacy Guard (http://www.gnupg.org/), it's a complete
and free replacement for PGP and conforms to the OpenPGP standard.

additionally, yes, it does compile ;) *g* .. pgp 5 compiled for me, too,
but it's not as good and not as easy ;)
