Hi Folks !
I have a DEC 5000/125 where I´ve plugged in a PMAD-AA to Build up a
firewall.
I´ve netbsd 1.4.2 up.
When I type in on a shell:

ifconfig le1 inet 172.20.52.124 broadcast 172.20.63.255 netmask
255.255.224.0

it works fine.
ifconfig le1 says:

le1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
              media: Ethernet manual
              status: no carrier
              inet 172.20.52.124 netmask 0xffffe000 broadcast 172.20.63.255

When I set up a file  /etc/ifconfig.le1 with the following line:
inet 172.20.52.124 broadcast 172.20.63.255 netmask 255.255.224.0

and reboot ifconfig le1 says:

le1: flags=8822<BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
              media: Ethernet manual

It seems weird that dmesg would report le1 configured but then not
configure it.
Is there a bug in netstarts or in one of the rc scripts ???
