just another data point here... I'm seeing this on my 5000/200.  The
last line I see on the screen is "init: copying out path `/sbin/init'
11" and that's it.

If I'm patient, xdm actually starts, so at least I can log in...  so
/etc/rc isn't bombing out in the middle for me.  (no /etc/rc.d for me...
at least not yet.)
