yes. based on systype. except you're saying tat right now, it doesn't.

but if we put in enough smarts to get the 3100 vs.  5100 right, why
not do it right for the "decystem 3100" and "decsystem 5000/200" as
well?  (i think the later decsystem 3100 prom can boot w/o the
loopback mouse connector if its in the right mode.)

But why should they even have to, on systems without frame buffers?
and if we do that, when do they ever need locators at all? :-)
