8MB modules do work (well they did a year or so ago). My first
NetBSD/pmax machine was a 5000/240 which had 6x 8MB for ages before
I found a few spare 32MB modules.
At a guess, I'd expect the 32,8,8,8... configuration to show up as
a 40MB machine, but I can't test this at the moment.
