Well, I hooked the HP DAT up to my 5000/25 and it works just fine. [This
was with a -current kernel from March 21 sources and all my local changes.]

I guess I'll have to see if I can scrounge up a TZ30 and try it.

Hmm - looking at pmax/dev/tz.c, it doesn't look like it will recognize
the TZ30. It should detect a TK50 (TZ50?) from the 0x50 in inqbuf.qualifier,
but if I remember correctly, the TZ30 has a 0x30 in inqbuf.qualifier.
