The file on ftp.netbsd.org was  corrupt. I've re-copied it, verified
the checksum, and touched it, to make sure  mirror sites pick it up.

There's also a miniroot which will boot with all known framebuffer
hardware on all platforms (famous last words!) but it seems the output
on an mfb is black-on-black :(.   This may or may not be fixed for
1.2; anyone with an mfb and time to try  some "untested" fixes should
contact me.
