Subject: Backup to Exabyte crashes DS5000/120

First of all, thanks for all the hints on how to build a kernel which is up
to my liking (no question for root device, for example) - worked all fine.

I've been trying to back up my NetBSD disk, with the obviously reproducible
result of crashing the system. The messages on the console are appended be-
low. The configuration of my system is the following:

DS5000/120
Built-in SCSI
id 1: External IBM OEM 0663H12 disk, ~ 1 GB, holding all NetBSD partitions
id 2: Internal RZ24, used for Ultrix only
id 3: Internal RZ23L, used for Ultrix only
id 4: Internal RRZ40
id 5: External Exabyte 8505XL (tz0)
id 7: asc0 at nexus0 csr 0xbc300000 priority 3 SCSI id 7

The Exabyte does not seem to be known by the system:
tz0: assuming GENERIC SCSI tape device

I've tried both dump'ing the root file system, and tar'ring it, to the Exa-
byte, which both crashed the system. I have, however, installed almost all
the NetBSD tar files from that Exabyte without any problem.

Anybody got any idea whether I'm using a bad configuration hardwarewise,
or whether there is any weak point in the NetBSD drivers?

Helge
