Try downloading the current GDB sources 
(http://sources.redhat.com/gdb/current/ and then run things under GDB:

	(gdb) file netbsd.gdb
	(gdb) target sim -f tree
	(gdb) run

When the trap is hit, type cntrl-c and you should have all the normal 
GDB facilities available.
